Justin Williams is a Governance Adviser at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and a PhD student at the University of Birmingham. He has nearly 20 years’ experience at the FCDO and before that at DFID, working on governance, anti-corruption and media development including in Syria, Tanzania and Ethiopia. He started his PhD as a way of reflecting more critically on development, turning the tools of a governance adviser onto a development intervention itself. He currently works in the FCDO’s Democratic Governance and Media Freedom team in London.
