Ishak is a researcher and activist with a strong interest in leadership and capacity development in Indonesia’s disability rights movement. In 2016 he co-founded the Indonesian Disability Movement for Equality (PerDIK), which aims to politically empower people with disability by strengthening their identity, skills and capacity, and ability to build coalitions for change. As part of his PhD research, he led a participatory action research project into the politics of knowledge within the Indonesian disability movement. Ishak is also a lecturer in the Department of Political Science at Universitas Teknologi Sulawesi.
